Shan Dong Expedition By Cecile August 14, 2005 It is around 5:00. We are currently on the plane to Shan Dong. I can't wait! We are going to meet 2 of dad's university classmates. They are Dad's friends. Dad and his 2 friends are going to go look at land on August 15th and August 16, and I'm hoping we can go and climb Mount Tai on August 17th. Maybe, maybe not. August 15, 2005 Nothing interesting to write about. All I did today was stay in the hotel being a good girl and doing homework. Sigh... When are we going to go and climb Mount Tai!? August 16, 2005 Yes!! Right now, we are on our way to Mount Tai. We are going to sleep in a hotel that is near Mount Tai. We are going to climb Mount Tai tomorrow. Yes! August 17, 2005 We just came back to the hotel from Mount Tai, and I'm EXHAUSTED! Really. I mean, even though Mount Tai is 1545 meters high, The ROAD to the top of Mount Tai is 9 kilometers, and it's climbing stairs! WE CLIMBED FOR 5 HOURS. I'm too tired right now. I'm going to bed. August 18, 2005 Ouch! OW! Yesterday we climbed Mount Tai, and now ALL of our legs are hurting. (That means Dad, dad's 2 friends, AND me.)I wonder HOW long my- I mean, OUR- legs are going to hurt. Today, we went to see Confucius's home. And tomb. We saw this tree that's bark was all curvy and wavy. It looked cool! Confucius's home is ALMOST exactly the same as an emperor. Confucius is very famous now in China because he had very good ideas, that the emperor used, and made China better (except he didn't make pollution, though, that's the good thing). August 19, 2005 Today we are going to go back to Shanghai. How sad.
I had such a good time, except for my legs hurting, of course. Our plane
leaves at 6:45. P.M. Of course. CERTAINLY NOT IN THE MORNING. So that
means that we can sightsee for the whole day! Hooray! Today we went to
Bao Tu Spring. That's Chinese. Did you know, the spring water seems to
have a fountain in it? That's because the water comes up from the ground.
It's really pretty. We also went boating. It was a bit too relaxing for
me, though.
